Multi-Touch in the future

AppleInsider reported today that Apple is seeking a Senior Panel Process Engineer "to develop the new process and design for the multi-touch panel used in Apple products." Notice the "s" in products. While certainly good news, this may indicate that Apple is not planning on shipping such products anytime soon. As we all know Apple has the capability of doing multi-touch displays, but maybe Steve Jobs wants to give Jonathan Ive, his lead designer a break?

Meanwhile, Jeff Han's Perceptive Pixel is really the only company other than Apple that's taken a look in multi-touch development, but they seem to have made much progress. Take a look at these to clips to see the current state of multi-touch technology (except for what Apple's hiding from us):
